Google Chat - Create a Room

Create a room in Hangouts Chat for conversations where people can come and go. Rooms are typically used for ongoing, long-term chats.

On your Computer

1. Open Chat.
2. At the top left, click Find people, rooms, bots.
3. Click Create room.
4. Enter a name and then click Create.
5. Click Add people & bots.
6. Enter names of people, email addresses, and bots, or select from the suggestions. Suggestions include everyone in your organization, even if they don't have Hangouts Chat. Repeat for each invitee.
7. Click Send.
8. Click New thread in *room name* to start a new conversation in the room.

On your iPhone or iPad

1. Open the Chat app .
2. At the bottom, tap Rooms .
3. Tap Add .
4. Tap Create room.
5. Enter a name and then tap Done .
6. Tap Add people & bots.
7. Enter names of people, email addresses, and bots, or select from the suggestions. Suggestions include everyone in your organization, even if they don't have Hangouts Chat. Repeat for each invitee.
8. Tap Done .
9. Tap New  to start a new conversation in the room.

On your Android

1. Open the Chat app .
2. At the bottom, tap Rooms .
3. Tap Add .
4. Tap Create room.
